The antiquities department of the Palestine government has granted permission to Hebrew University to examine a group or ancient burial mounds which were accidentally discovered at Hedera.
Dr. E. L. Sukenik, university archaeologist, who made a preliminary investigation, reported the mounds are of the early Bronze Age, about 2,500 B.C. He declared they represent a newly discovered type of interment, including a custom of bone collecting in ossuaries, which is a unique revelation in Palestine. The Hedera colony council is providing funds for further exploration of the buried mounds.
