An appeal to the Jews of America to aid their co-religionists in Germany was issued here today by Judge William M. Lewis of Philadelphia before 2,000 persons attending a meeting of the New England Zionist Region. Colonel Benjamin Evarts of Holyoke, president of the regional organization, presided.

In 1876 Daniel Sanders, lexicographer, was called to Berlin to assist the Ministry of Instruction in eliminating all foreign terms and phrases.

In consequence of the persecutions of Pope Innocent III, about 300 English and French rabbis migrated around 1,211 to Palestine.
