As a memorial to his wife, Ben Hartogensis, well-known Jewish communal worker, has established a $1,000 loan fund in the Hebrew Free Loan Society of Baltimore.

According to the terms of the gift the fund must be used up within twenty years, and the society was requested to depart from its policy of caution in granting loans and take some risk to encourage merchants to apply for loans. The fund will be known as the Frances and Ben Hartogensis Memorial.
