Montreal Jewry turned out in large numbers to pay tribute to the late Clarence Michaels, one of the most active communal workers in the city.
Temple Emanu-El was filled to overflowing with fellow communal workers, friends, business associates and leading lights in civic and provincial affairs.
“Throughout the long years of his successes and service to the community,” said Rabbi Harry J. Stern in his eulogy, “Clarence Michaels was a simple, unaffected man who loved to be helpful. If we enumerate his qualities of mind, we find that he had the power to inspire men with enthusiasm in working for a cause.”
