Jews desiring to go to Cyprus will henceforth not be permitted to acquire land there, according to a law passed by the local government yesterday, the Morning Post reports here today.

The law prohibits land transactions in Cyprus unless sanctioned by the government. Projected deals will have to be reported to the British administration of Cyprus before being officially registered.

Commenting on this new law, the Morning Post declares that it is tantamount to restriction of Jewish immigration into Cyprus. The paper expresses its wonder at passage of such a law at the present time, when Jews with capital are migrating to Cyprus and when a number of Jewish capitalists have already contributed heavily to the island’s development by investing there.
