The Chest for Liberation of Workers of Europe, 3 West Sixteenth street, formed following the visit of Walter M. Citrine, British labor leader to the San Francisco convention of the American Federation of Labor, yesterday announced completion of its organization.
The purpose of the Chest is to weld organized labor in this country to combat the onslaughts of Nazism and other types of Fascism. William Green, president of the A. F. of L., is chairman.
According to a statement issued yesterday, the organization will “concentrate on combatting Fascist propaganda in the United States, on helping refugees from Fascist countries and on strengthening organized labor activities within the Fascist countries.”
Matthew Woll, vice-president of the American Federation of Labor, is vice-chairman of the Chest. Joseph N. Weber, president of the American Federation of Musicians, is secretary and David Dubinsky, president of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, is treasurer.
