EXPRESSES HOPE
Pointing out that American Jewry, “in common with other Jewries, has perhaps not played the part it should in the upbuilding of Palestine,” Mr. Laski said “we would like to think that by this meeting we could create for non-Zionists a constituency that many members of the American public could come to as friends of Palestine, and that there should be a revivification of the non-Zionist section of the Agency in this great country, and that the example of America might perhaps be followed in other parts of the world.”
A message calling upon American Jewry to assume an even greater share in the historic task of the rebuilding of Palestine was read to the administrative committee from Dr. Nahum Sokolow, president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, who is now in London.
Lewis Bush, member of the well known Jewish family of Philadelphia merchants, was a major in the Continental Army when he was fatally wounded at the battle of Brandywine.
