Some 2,000 Jewish refugees from Germany who have been staying in Czechoslovakia have been left without hope of livelihood as a result of a new government order barring the employment of political refugees.
While the new instructions are intended to protect the native population, they strike at the many remaining German Jews of the thousands who sought haven here. Most of the original refugees who came here have managed to find more permanent refuge in Palestine, France and other lands.
In April of last year Dr. Eduard Benes, Czechoslovakian Foreign Minister, gave assurance to James G. McDonald, League of Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, that the Czechoslovakian government would do everything in its power to assist the refugees with passports and vocational training which would prepare them for life in other lands.
