their furniture and property because they cannot sell them. A special decree enacted recently by the Turkish administration forbids Turks buying furniture or immovable property from Jews. This law was enacted by the government in good faith in order to protect the Jews when wholesale attacks against them took place last July and when they were obliged to sell their property for insignificant sums. Now, however, the law works against Jewish interest, since it prevents the Jews from selling their belongings and thus obtaining the money which would enable them to proceed to Palestine.
