More than 300 delegates of Northeastern Jewish religious groups will gather Sunday afternoon for the second session of the two-day conference of the first regional parley on social justice at the auditorium of the Free Synagogue, 40 West Sixty-eighth street.
Under the chairmanship of State Supreme Court Justice Samuel Harris, delegates will listen to addresses on “The Synagogue and the Social Order” by Lewis Fox; “The Problem of Unemployment” discussed by I. Arnold Ross; “Distribution of the National Income” by Max L. Stolz; “The Socialization of the Basic Enterprises,” a paper by Jacob S. Mannheimer, and a report on “The Synagogue Committee on Social Justice” delivered by Frederick Guggen-heimer.
In the morning delegates to the conference will attend services at various synagogues where the question of “The Synagogue and Social Justice” will be discussed by the rabbis.
The conference was to open Saturday evening at a session in Temple Emanu-El, where the problem of “The Synagogue and the Social Crisis” in its various aspects was discussed by Dr. Ephraim Frisch, Rabbi Sidney E. Goldstein, Simon Sobeloff and Judge Joseph G. Shapiro.
