Concern was felt here today for the safety of the Jewish population in Northern Macedonia, where the Venizelist rebels are desperately fighting to retain control.
Since strict censorship prevails no direct news was available from Macedonia about the fate of the Jews there. It is, however, feared that the rebels, before relinquishing their stronghold in Macedonia, may carry out anti-Jewish acts which might cost Jewish lives and property.
The Jews in Macedonia have on many occasions openly associated themselves with the present government against the Venizelists. Frequently they have openly complained to the governor general of Macedonia against certain Venizelist leaders and editors for conducting anti-Jewish propaganda.
In Salonica the Jews are urging their youth to join the government forces in the general mobilization.
