The first Jewish liner, the Tel Aviv, making its first trip from Haifa to Trieste, under a Jewish flag, was detained in the harbor of Piraeus as a result of the rebellion in Greece.

The steamer was prevented from proceeding to Trieste because the entire Piraeus zone is under martial law and in the sphere of the fighting activities.
