Disciplinary action was taken today by the National Peasant Party of Rumania against two of its members for supporting Dr. Vaida-Voevod’s anti-Semitic campaign to introduce a numerus clausus for national minorities in the Rumanian school system.
The Permanent Delegation of the National Peasant Party issued a communique today repudiating this campaign. The communique says that the party disassociates itself entirely from ex-Premier Vaida-Voevod in the movement which he has started against the Jews and other national minorities. Dr. Vaida-Voevod is one of the leading members of the National Peasant Party.
The communique does not indicate whether Dr. Vaida-Voevod will be permitted to remain in the party if he continues his anti-Jewish propaganda against the will of the other leaders of the party. At a recent convention of the National Peasant Party, Dr. Vaida-Voevod introduced a resolution demanding the party program include certain anti-Jewish paragraphs. His demand was rejected.
