Maccabi Squad Given Send-off to Olympiad

A team consisting of fifteen members of the U. S. Maccabi Association was to sail at noon Saturday on the Conte di Savoia for Palestine, where it will participate in the World Jewish Olympics at Tel Aviv, April 2-10. The athlete# were received Friday afternoon Aldermanic President Bernard S. Deutsch at City Hall. Mr. Deutsch received the delegation of Jewish athletes as president of the American Jewish Congress.

The athletes were accompanied to City, Hall by Max Manischew### donor of two of the trophies to be offered in the sports competition at the triennial Maccabiad in which twenty-three nations have entered contestants.

The team was led by David White, executive director of the U. S. Maccabi Association. Members of the squad are Miss Lillian Copeland, discus thrower, Janet Leifson, champion indoor and outdoor diver. Doris Kelman and Syd Koff, swimmers and the following trackmen: Abraham Rosenkrantz, Harry Hoffman, Charles Coates, John Sandler, William Steiner, Martin Feider, Julius Finklestein and George Steinberg.
