Breaking a 57-year-old precedent, the Bulgarian government today ordered Jewish schools throughout the country to remain closed on Sundays.

A Jewish delegation was told by the Minister of Interior that it would be impossible to make an exception for the Jews, but he would present their case to the session of the Cabinet. The Jewish delegations argued that since Jewish schools are closed on Saturdays, it is logical that they be permitted to stay open on Sundays.
