All Jewish prisoners who went on a hunger strike in the Jerusalem jail last Sunday ended their protest today, with the exception of two. Detained on the charge of illegal entry into the country, they will be released on bail.
Four Jews, who were detained as illegal entrants, were sentenced today by Judge Corrie, the British magistrate, to one month’s imprisonment each. Among those sentenced are two women. All will be deported after their sentence is served.
“The Jewish position in Czechoslovakia is not like that in Germany,” the Judge said, in issuing his sentence. All four are Czecho-slovakian citizens.
Nine other Jews from Syria, Egypt and Turkey were given the same sentence by Judge Corrie.
