The Nansen Office today allotted 50,000 Swiss francs to defray the cost of naturalizing 17,000 refugees from Russia who are now in Turkey and among whom are many Jews.

This sum supplements the 25,000 Swiss francs granted for the same purpose by the American Relief Committee for Russian Refugees.

The Turkish government has agreed to naturalize the refugees from Russia in order to facilitate their earning a livelihood in Turkey. Under the present regulations no foreigners can be employed in any Turkish enterprise. The refugees from Russia were considered foreigners and thus suffered the same restrictions. These restrictions will be eliminated now that the Turkish government has granted them naturalization.
