An appeal against the order prohibiting Jews in Germany from displaying the German flag has been wired directly to Chancellor Hitler by Dr. Max Naumann, leader of the pro-Nazi Jewish group in Germany, it was learned here today.
“The order spells undeserved humiliation for thousands of Jews who distinguished themselves during the last World War on the German front and are recipients of the German Cross of Honor,” the appeal says.
Dr. Naumann, who represents an insignificant group of German Jews, sent copies of the appeal to every member of his organization, emphasizing that he is circulating the text of the appeal direct to the members since it is not likely that the German press will publish it.
“This appeal should, however, not be given out for foreign distribution,” Dr. Naumann warns in his instructions to the members. “The nationally minded German Jews must not increase the painful impression which the order created abroad and must also not arouse any hostile feelings against our Fatherland,” the instructions explain.
