A minimum of fifty delegates to the next Zionist Congress in August will probably be allotted to the United States, it was predicted yesterday in a statement issued by Leo Wolfson, chairman of the Central Shekel and Election Board for the Congress.
“According to the present indications,” Mr. Wolson said, “the United States will be credited with more than 150,000 Shekolim, and assuming that the delegates will be allotted on the same basis as in 1933, that is, one delegate for every 3,000 Shekolim, it is evident ##t the United States will have at least fifty delegates. Many of the groups in the Zionist movement are carrying on intensive campaigns for the sale of Shekolim, and it may be that even this number will be exceeded.”
The Central Shekel and Election Board has set May 25 as the final date when settlement may be made for Shekolim sold. All stubs of Shekolim must be returned to the Central Shekel and Election Board so that the numbers may be included in the register of paid Shekolim, which will be printed this year. Only those persons the numbers of whose Shekel receipts appear on the official register will have a right to vote, according to the regulations adopted by the Board.
Election day has been set for Sunday, June 23.
