The Budapest University today issued a denial that the “Aryan Paragraph” has been introduced in the Medical College along the same lines as in Germany, in order to prevent Jews from studying medicine.
The denial was made after a report appeared in a Hungarian newspaper that at a session of the medical faculty of the university, it was decided to follow the example of the Nazis in Germany and accept as students only such applicants as can trace their “Aryan” origin back to three generations.
REPORT BASELESS
“This report is absolutely baseless,” the denial states, emphasizing that no limitations have been considered for non-Aryan students and that the medical faculty of the university includes a large proportion of Jewish professors.
The new Hungarian Parliament now has seven Jewish deputies, as compared with nine in the previous parliament, it was revealed here this week when the list of the new parliamentarians was made public.
The seven are: Dr. Gyorki, Dr. Weltner and Dr. Buchinger, Social-Democrats; Paul Sandor, who is the Dean of the House, Dr. Ernst Brody, Dr. Bela Fabian and Dr. Johann Vazsonyi, the son of the first Jewish Hungarian Minister of Justice, Dr. Wilhelm Vazsonyi, who was also the founder of the Democratic Party in Hungary.
