Two anti-Jewish parades which took place in the streets of Berlin yesterday were taken as a signal throughout the country today to start a renewed intensive drive against the Jews.
As a result of the parades in Berlin, similar demonstrations will now be held in other German cities.
The Berlin parades were led by bands flaunting the banners of the Nazi party. Nazis in uniform carried large placards with anti-Jewish slogans reading: “The Jews Are Our Misfortune”, “Aryan Women, Boycott the Jewish Doctor,” and others.
WOMEN ASSAILED
In Breslau, a high-pitched, hysterical campaign was started today by members of the Nazi Storm Troops against “Aryan” women suspected of associating with Jews. The drive assumed the appearance of a medieval pursuit of witches. Defamatory posters were placed in front of the homes of “Aryan” women alleged to have dealings with Jews. Their names were also printed and posted conspicuously throughout the city.
The campaign against the women under suspicion caused a panic among hundreds of non-Jewish women in the city since the list of names posted included many who had never associated with Jews. The campaign is being assisted by the local press, which announces that it will daily publish new names.
EXPULSION URGED
In Dresden the press today publish inciting articles demanding that Jews be expelled from the city. “The Jews are having a good time,” the Freiheitskampf of Dresden complains.
The paper protests that Jewish stores still exist in Dresden and that “there are still Shields of David prominently displayed in the windows of Jewish boarding houses to single them out.”
“Is it any wonder that the Jews go about as though the place belonged to them?” the paper asks.
