A plea to Jews of Greece to abstain from voting only for the Government Party in the parliamentary elections on June 2, was voiced here by General Pangalos, the former Greek dictator.
General Pangalos has formed a new party aiming to capture the votes of the followers of Venizelos who are not permitted to put forward their own list for the parliamentary elections.
“The Jews must vote for all parties and not form a single bloc,” General Pangalos said. “The next elections will be a test for the Jews.”
The Greek general declared that he knows the Jews in Greece are loyal and peaceful citizens.
“I am for an understanding between all Greeks, including, of course, the Jews,” he emphasized.
Dr. A. Halevy of Salonica has been appointed head of the State Hospital here by a special decree published in the Government official organ. This is the first time that a Jew has been appointed by decree to a post in the State Administration.
