For the first time in the history of the Jews in Poland, Lag B’Omer will not be celebrated tomorrow, as an expression of mourning for Marshal Josef Pilsudski.
Celebration of the holiday was scheduled in all Jewish schools throughout the country. Plans for outings and special gatherings were completed several days before Marshal Pilsudski died. The celebrations were cancelled in connection with the decision of the Rabbinate to observe a four-week period of mourning for Pilsudski.
