The report in a local newspaper alleging that Jacob Goldschmidt, well known Jewish banker from Germany, came to New York as Hitler’s envoy to seek a loan for the Third Reich, was emphatically denied yesterday in a statement issued by Dr. Goldschmidt to the Jewish Daily Bulletin.
“Neither directly nor indirectly am I trying to arrange a loan for Germany in the United States.” Dr. Goldschmidt said. “The report which appeared in the New York Evening Post is absolutely untrue from beginning to end.”
Dr. Goldschmidt made the denial at the Savoy-Plaza Hotel, where he is staying during his visit in New York.
