Dr. Vaida-Voevod, former premier and leader of the anti-Semitic forces in Rumania, was received today by King Carol and had dinner with him.
It is understood that the King invited the ex-premier in order to influence him to discontinue his propaganda against the national minorities in the country and especially against the Jews.
The Rumanian press reports today that Dr. Vaida-Voevod’s plan to create a united front of all anti-Semitic grounds in the country has not been realized.
CUZA BALKS AT UNION
Prof. Cuza, the “Streicher of Rumania,” refused to join hands with ex-premier, declaring that he is not satisfied with receiving merely the post of honorary president in the united organization. He made it clear that he wishes to have active leadership and will not consider Dr. Vaida-Voevod’s proposal until such leadership is guaranteed to him.
A smiliar attitude was taken by Prof. Goga, the leader of another anti-Semitic group ni Rumania, The followers of Prof. Goga announced that they oppose any cooperation with Dr. Vaida-Voevod and threatened to leave the ranks of their party if any agreement is reached between their leader and the ex-premier.
The newspaper Miscarea, official organ of the Liberal Party strongly assails Dr. Vaida-Voevod for his propaganda to introduce a numerus clausus against Jews in education and in professions. The paper warns of “fatal consequences.”
