The authorities today prohibited the convention of the Jewish State Party in Palestine on the pretext that the party is not registered by the government.
Formalities for registration of the party were completed a year ago. Leaders of the Jewish State Party therefore are at a loss to explain the government’s charge that the party has not been registered.
Fires which devastated 1,000 dunams in crops in the Emek Israel elds near Haifa, were blamed on sparks from railway engines passing this district.
The danger of fires started by sparks from passing trains is causing great concern among both the authorities and the Jewish colonists. Three hundred dunams of crops were destroyed in the colony Merchavia alone as a result of today’s fires.
