A report which reached Palestine today from Turkey states that Sadiaah Tcherniak, the arrested director of the Jewish Colonization Association in Istanboul, has been released by the Turkish authorities upun the intervention of the British Consulate.

Mr. Tcherniak was arrested on the charge that he was helping Turkish Jews to proceed to Palestine. A list of 400 Jews who allegedly applied for aid in immigrating to Palestine, was found by the authorities during the raid on Mr. Tcherniak’s house.

The Jewish community in Istanboul, according to the report received here, is greatly worried about the fate of the 400 Jews whose name appear on this list, since the Turkish government suspects every prospective emigrant to Palestine of being a Zionist. The Zionist movement is prohibited in Turkey.
