A further attack on Jewish economic rights in Poland was made by the Polish government, which decided yesterday to withdraw licenses from Jewish distillers who comprise seventy-five per cent of all distillers in Poland.
The Jewish press in Warsaw today, reporting the decision of the Minister of Finance, emphasizes that the partial withdrawal of licenses being effected before the decision was officially made, has resulted in throwing 20,000 Jews out of employment.
SEIZE GRODNO MANIFESTO
The Polish authorities today confiscated a manifesto issued by the Trade Union Council in Grodno in connection with the recent anti-Jewish excesses there. The manifesto warned the Polish workers against the notion that Jews are responsible for the depression. The pro-Jewish document was confiscated for allegedly containing political references against the government.
The tragic position of Jewish artisans was depicted here at a conference of the United Committee for the Affairs of Jewish Artisanship held at the B’nai B’rith lodge. The conference was attended by artisans, economists, social workers and journalists.
The new industrial war which hits 50,000 Jewish “home artisans,” known as Chalupniks, was the center of discussion at the conference. It was pointed out by all speakers that this law is a severe blow not only to Jewish economic interests but also to Jewish rights in general.
