Following the permission recently granted by the Rumanian government to ship Zionist funds to Palestine without considering the exchange regulations of the country, the government today authorized the payment of close to $300,000 due Palestinian exporters for the sale of oranges shipped to Rumania.
Further efforts to remove the restrictions on export of capital to Palestine are now being made by Zadock Chelouche, president of the Palestine – Rumanian Chamber of Commerce, who is now on a visit to Rumania.
The sums permitted by the Rumanian government to be transferred to the Jewish National Fund and the Keren Hayesod in Palestine amount to about $50,000. They consist of Zionist collections made in Rumania during the last few years and retained in the country because of the existing exchange regulations which do not permit sending money abroad.
