The First Annual Sullivan County Horse Show will be held at the Grossinger Riding Academy this Sunday. Riding has always been very popular here, but never as big as it is this season. An excellent instructor, Capt. Bill Sanford, has taken the merest beginners and made excellent horsemen of them in practically no time. As a special feature of this horse show, Captain Sanford and several of his associates will give an exhibition of jumping on the new Grossinger track.

A basketball team representing the Grossinger Country Club and composed of members of the Long Island University team will play Camp Winston here this evening. The college boys are engaged here in various capacities, some as waiters and others as athletic directors and their aim is to play strong aggregations during the Summer months to develop their own team work. The “Five” is composed of Ben Kramer, Lou Bender, leading intercollegiate scorer last season, Leo Mercin, Carl Wasserman and Eddie Schwartz. Bob Zises, who is also on the Club’s staff, is sixth man on the team.

Richard Mack, director of the Grossinger Play-house, will present his original revue, “Carnival,” this Saturday night. Those who’ve never been to a Grossinger show might find it difficult to believe what we say of them. Because one would never expect to find such professional performances on the stage of a resort theatre. All in all, over forty people are involved in every production including cast, orchestra, scenic designers and stage crew. And besides these weekly musical shows, another company composed entirely of actors who’ve been on. Broadway present a drama.

Grossinger’s is interesting beyond description and you should certainly enjoy coming here for your vacation.
