Zvi Safra, a 17-year old Jewish youth, was today sentenced to twelve lashes on the back for picketing a Jewish shop selling German goods.

In handing down the verdict, Magistrate Bodilly stated that he is imposing his sentence “because the defendant is aping those pressing the anti-Jewish boycott in Germany. He is thus harming the Jewish people by spoiling world sympathy for the sufferers in Germany.”
