Addressing the newly founded Reichs Culture Senate this afternoon, Propaganda Minister Paul Joseph Goebbels delivered a report in which he asserted with unconcealed pride that Jews have been completely purged from the cultural life of Germany.
His report was read in the presence of Reich Chancellor Adolph Hitler, members of the cabinet and leaders of the country’s cultural and political life.
Dr. Goebbels declared:
“The Reichs Cultural Chamber is now absolutely ‘Judenrein’ (rid of Jews.) There isn’t a single Jew left in our cultural life. Jew can no longer become a member of the Cultural Chamber. On the other hand we have permitted Jews in a very liberal manner to develop their own Jewish culture. The Jewish Kulturbund (association of Jewish cultural societies) now has a membership of 110,000, maintains three theatres, its own orchestra and is ### in many cities of Germany. It is only activities in German cultural life that have been prohibited for Jews, but we do not ### them from developing their own cultural life.”
