Four Jewish watchmen were today sentenced to from two to ten years at hard labor for the slaying on August 19 of an Arab squatter on property in the Kuskus Taboun area owned by the Meshek Company.

Isaac Crankin was sentenced to ten years, Mordechai Mizrachi, Joseph Demai and Arieh Abrahamson receiving two year terms apiece.

The killing occurred when a group of Arab squatters attacked Jewish farmers who were ploughing the land, which is located in the northern part of Palestine. Recently a court decision ruled the land was legally the property of the Meshek Company, Jewish land development organization. However, as a result of the agitation arising from the killing, High Commissioner Sir Arthur Wauchope advised the Meshek Company not to press for execution of the court order.
