Despite the resignation of High Commissioner James G. McDonald of New York, the League of Nations High Commission for German Refugees will continue its activities until the League Council decides at its January meeting on the future conduct of the refugee work, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency was informed by A. Wurfbain, Secretary General of the Commission.
He said that the Council would act on the resignation and designate an agency to continue the work. The Council will decide on the basis of proposals submitted by its committee of experts, which met in Geneva last month, how the work will be continued until the League Assembly meets in September.
The Assembly will be faced with the choice between creating a new League agency for refugee work and turning the refugee activities over to an enlarged and extended Nansen International Office. The experts committee submitted both proposals.
