The Executive of the Jewish Agency for Palestine has written to High Commissioner Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope asking about contemplated new restrictions on immigration reported by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, it was learned today.
The Government has not replied to queries about the reported restrictions from the J.T.A. and from Hebrew newspapers. The papers commented today that the refusal to answer is an ominous sign.
The J.T.A. had reported that the Government was preparing regulations doubling the $5,000 minimum necessary for entry in the capitalist category, curbing entry of Palestine citizens’ relatives, obliging tourists to post a $400 deposit and invalidating immigration certificates if not used within a specified period.
