A hunger-strike was ended today by nine illegal immigrants in the Jerusalem jail after eleven days of fasting on the promise that they would be bailed out. They had launched the strike complaining that although they had paid fines and served their terms they were kept in prison pending deportation. They had also complained of ill-treatment by prison officials.

In Acre, meanwhile, the hunger-strike of a group of illegal immigrants entered its seventh day.
