Jewish newspapers today assailed what they termed the “anti-Jewish policy” of the Palestine Government in connection with reports that the Government is preparing new restrictions curbing Jewish immigration and sale of Arabs’ lands.
Haaretz, He brew daily, warned that weakness on the Government’s part would not appease the Arabs, but rather would result in the acceleration of the movement for expelling British rulers in Palestine and throughout the Near East.
The contemplated measures, the newspaper asserted, indicate that the promises to the Jews made to Dr. Chaim Weizmann by Ramsay MacDonald while Prime Minister in 1931 together with the pledges of other British statement has been shelved.
