An editorial in Der Angriff, mouthpiece of the Minister of Propaganda, Dr. Paul Joseph Goebbels, today charges that a “secret Jewish Communist organization” of Rumania has obtained a fund of 25 million lei with which to fight the anti-Semitic pro-Nazi press of that country.
The paper states that Rumanian newsdealers have been bribed not to sell anti-Semitic publications and that editions of several such papers have been bought up and burned.
Der Stuermer’s current issue alleges that Jews organized an anti-Semitic gang in Rumania, desecrating Jewish cemeteries and attacking Jews in order to cast blame on bona-fide anti-Semitic organizations, thus causing them to be banned by the Government. The Streicher weekly declares this group was responsible for the recent attempt on the life of Bucharest’s chief rabbi, Dr. Jakob Niemirower.
