A Congressional investigation into the Black Legion and other organizations “spreading similar un-American propaganda of religious, racial or subversive political prejudices” with a view to enactment of “necessary remedial Federal legislation” is called for in a resolution introduced concurrently today in the Senate and House.
The resolution introduced by Representative Dickstein of New York and Senator Benson of Minnesota authorizes a committee of four senators and four representatives to hold hearings anywhere in the United States. The committee would be empowered to subpoena witnesses and take testimony and would have a sum not exceeding $100,000 at its disposal.
