Nazi Germany will be satisfied only when its war against Jews is taken up by other nations, Joseph Goebbels, Propaganda Minister, told the Nazi Party Congress at Nuremberg today.
Before a cheering audience, which punctuated his remarks with salvos of applause, Dr. Goebbels declared that the war against Jews would not be slackened but extended to Jews the world over with greater impetus than ever before.
In a speech loaded with slanderous attacks against “non-Aryans,” he asserted again and again that “Jews and Bolsheviks are identical” and must be extirpated from the face of the earth.
“We shall never tire of this task,” he shouted. “We shall repeatedly warn all nations that Jews are guilty. We shall not rest until we succeed in fully opening the eyes of the world that Jews and Bolsheviks are the same.”
Pointing to Germany as the only nation thus far which has been courageous enough to deal with the “Jewish menace,” his tirade continued:
“Bolshevism could only have been born of a Jewish brain. Bolshevist cruelty could only have been perpetrated by Jewish hands.”
In the same vein, Alfred Rosenberg, National Socialism’s philosopher, arraigned Jews for allegedly supporting Communism and for the murder of Wilhelm Gustloff, Swiss Nazi leader.
The addresses of the high Nazi functionaries followed closely the motif supplied by Chancellor Adolf Hitler last night in which he assailed Jews for propagating the seeds of democracy and Bolshevism.
Even more vigorously than ever before, he propounded the theory that “non-Aryans” were the destructive element in Germany’s economic life.
That theory, he declared, must be accepted as “a fundamental principle” of Nazism.
He characterized Soviet Russia’s leaders as “parasitic intellectuals,” who had never worked in field or factory, and said that ninety-eight per cent of them were Jews. This phase of the Fuehrer’s speech was one of the many variations of the Congress’s underlying theme — “Judaism is Bolshevism without the mask.”
Jews were astounded by the Chancellor’s accusation blaming them for the present bloodshed in Spain. He charged that Jews long resident in Spain and recent Jewish immigrants to the land have lived there “solely for the purpose of annihilating pure-blooded Spaniards.”
Declaring that Jews were a “tyrannical element” whose ambition it is to rule cruelly but who are innately without ability to be creative, he charged them with destructiveness of economic as well as cultural life.
Throughout his long address, the head of the German State stressed the racial question and emphasized that State authority can be successfully exercised only when the problem of Jewish blood is solved.
“It is the aim of Bolshevism,” he enunciated, “to impose Jewish blood on other nations.”
Jews undermine other nations first by destroying their cultural achievements, he warned, asserting that other nations respect foreign cultures but that this feeling of respect was alien to, Jews.
The Chancellor’s elucidation of events in Spain was carefully echoed by a lieutenant of Dr. Goebbels, speaking before officials of the Ministry of Propaganda.
“Jews are responsible for events in Spain,” said the Propaganda Minister’s assistant, Herr Fischer. “Wherever the Jew appears he spells death for other nations.”
Julius Streicher, Germany’s leading Jew-baiter and “boss” of Nuremberg, turned the spotlight of Nazi acclaim on himself last night with a message to the delegates exhorting them to remember he was the first to trumpet the call for war against Jews.
He advised the party’s representatives that the way to win the heart of the German nation was to follow his example.
The Fuehrer’s personal journal, the Voelkischer Beobachter, in a statement published in its convention issue, declared that “the Jew, Benjamin Disraeli, told us that the racial question is the key to the world’s history.
“National Socialism has found this key and presented it to the German people. The city, where our party is holding its convention, will contribute to an insurance in the future that that key will never again be lost.”
