Jew Beaten by Rumanian Mob; Jailed for Creating Disturbance

A Jewish merchant in the town of Turnu Severin who got into an altercation with a taxi driver over a dollar was beaten and his house damaged by an angry crowd today and he was arrested afterward for creating a disturbance.

During the dispute, the Jew, Nathan Bercu, struck the driver. The driver’s friends gathered a crowd of 1,000 which attacked Bercu and his home. The merchant, seriously injured in the ensuing disorders, was jailed by the police.
