The American Jewish Committee, in a documented statement signed by Dr. Cyrus Adler, president, and Sol M. Stroock, executive committee chairman, charged today that Adolf Hitler, under the guise of attacking Communism, was actually making an assault upon democracy and world peace.

The statement branded as “a farrage of mendacities and incitations” the declarations at the recent Nazi Congress in Nuremberg, adding that they were tending to the “destruction of democratic ideals dear to free people everywhere.”

The American Jewish Committee spokesmen placed emphasis upon refutation of those Hitler charges which linked the Jews to Communism. After having deprived the German Jews of their civil rights, their status as citizens, their peace of mind and their hope for the future, they declared, the Nazis leadership has now poured abuse upon their good name and that of the Jews of the world at large, whom they are ceaselessly maligning. This time, it is stated, the assault upon the reputation of the Jews is made under the cloak of an attack upon Communism.
