Austria As Route to Italy Barred to Jews, Catholics

The authorities are barring Austria as a transit route to Italy for Jews and some Catholics, it was reliable learned here.

Jews holding German passports and wishing to go to Italy via Austria have been refused the necessary permits by police, who have informed them that permits would be granted if they altered their route to take them through Switzerland.

Similar experiences have occurred to a number of Catholics, it was established.
