Premier Viacheslav Molotoff today denounced the German Nazis as “modern cannibals” for their persecution of the Jews in an address to the All-Union Congress of Soviets.

An ovation greeted him when he declared that “we respect and love the German people; our quarrel is only with their barbarous Fascist leaders.”

Premier Molotoff, who is president of the Soviet of Peoples’ Commissars, asserted:

“The Nazi leaders have well earned the appelation, modern cannibals. Their persecution of the Jews is in marked contrast to our respect for this race which gave us Karl Marx.

“Our attitude toward national minorities is one of friendliness and kindness. The Nazi attitude is one of barbarism and cruelty,” he declared.

“The Fascists are the destroyers of culture and the advocates of monstrous social theories,” he said.
