In a long editorial the New York American today urged Great Britain to open Transjordan to Jewish settlement to relieve tension in Palestine, aid homeless Jews and assure for Britain “a greater and more prosperous Palestine, which would serve as a bulwark for peace at the vital junction of the British Empire.”

The editorial said that the hearings before the Royal Commission in Jerusalem had already confirmed the salient findings of the unofficial senatorial commission sent to the Holy Land last Summer by the Hearst newspapers.
