Formal representations by the Vatican against a bitter attack on German Catholic Bishops by Julius Streicher, Nazi leader of the Nuremburg district and publisher of the anti-Semitic weekly Der Stuermer, were understood today to be in the hands of German foreign officials, according to the Havas News Agency.
In a recent speech at Cologne, Streicher reportedly attacked German Catholics as a whole and lodged personal accusations against Catholic bishops and archbishops in the Reich.
