Outlining an enlarged program of vocational retraining, Dr. Leon Bramson, president of the International ORT Federation, warned the Polish Jews today against allowing themselves to be diverted by the political fight for equality from the reconstruction of the Jews’ economic life.
In a press statement urging the necessity of Jewish vocational reorientation to enable the Jewish masses to continue their existence in Poland, be said the ORT intended to expand its network of training schools, which now serves 50,000 Jews.
The opening of new workshops and schools is planned, he said, and extension of the curriculum to include not only “Jewish trades” such as tailoring, carpentry and weaving, but also courses in motor driving, radio technique, electrodynamics and agriculture.
