New tension was added to Anglo-Reich relations tonight with the report that Germany plans to protest as an illegal blow at Nazism the recent Pretoria decree barring all non-Britons from political activity in the Union of South Africa, the Havas News Agency reported.

The protest, to be lodged at the dominion capital this week, will assail the measure as outright discrimination against the German population in what was formerly German Southwest Africa, informed sources said.

(The Pretoria decree prohibited non-Britons from engaging in political activity or swearing fidelity to the orders of any foreign Government.

The scheduled protest was, as is usual, heralded by a concerted press attack against the decree as “an unfortunate precedent which the Reich is not disposed to accept.”
