Mrs. Edward Jacobs, president of Hadassah, returning today on the Rex from a four-month visit in Palestine, said the Jewish community as a whole was optimistic on the outcome of the Royal Commission inquiry. She described the country as in a state of “suspended animation” over the pending report.
“Those who are discouraged,” Mrs. Jacobs said, “are so only because they feel that faith has been broken with the Jews. An indication of the constructive spirit of the Jews is the fact that they conduct their business as usual and are undeterred in building the country.”
Hadassah will hold a conference of chapter leaders at the Hotel Pennsylvania on Sunday and Monday to express opposition to the proposed cantonization or partition of Palestine, it was announced by Mrs. Herman Shulman, national secretary.
