The need for carefully trained archaeologists to “revitalize” the remote past for present-day science was stressed by Ephraim A. Speiser, Professor of Semities at the University of Pennsylvania, speaking tonight at Founder’s Day and Graduation Exercises of Dropsie College.

Prof. Speiser, who is director of the American School for Oriental Research in Baghdad, has just returned from Iraq. Dr. Cyrus Adler, president of the college, presided at the exercises. Prof. A. A. Neuman delivered the invocation.
